We opened our first docket as IVY Design in 1999. In the 21 years since, we’ve logged more than 2,500 projects and developed some serious creative chops. (We’ve got a big box of awards somewhere in the office to back up that statement.)

Over the years, we’ve grown our services, adding communications, marketing, strategy, social media and marketing automation to our offering, but our core approach hasn’t changed. We sweat the small stuff. We labour over commas and kerning, obsess over conversions, deliberate over copy and hone the well-honed. We do what we do with great care.

IVY is not a big, multinational agency. That’s by design. We’re a boutique marketing agency because our senior creatives want to do creative work, not manage junior creatives; because our strategist wants to have a direct impact on the clients we serve; because we don’t need to be giant to generate big results for the right company.

So, while we’re always delighted when a potential client takes an interest in our agency, we try to only take on clients we think are a good fit. It’s important that you believe we’re the right fit too. Over the years, we’ve learned that we can achieve the best results for our clients when they… 

1 – believe in the value of marketing for their company.

If you don’t think marketing can help your company, we can’t help you. If you’re not sure, let us show you how it works. (We’ve got numbers to back this up.) If you do think marketing is important for your company’s growth, we’re off to a good start.

2 – are looking for more than a one-off project.

If you’re just in need of a brochure or presentation, we’re probably not right for you. A capable freelancer is likely a better choice. IVY’s focus is branding and coordinated marketing tactics that have a measurable impact on sales. That takes a bit of time up front. We learn about you, your customers and your competitors, assess and/or establish brand creative and develop strategies to identify, measure and evaluate the marketing tactics that will drive sales for your company.

3 – have a marketing budget that supports an integrated marketing strategy.

Typically, that means at least $10 to $20 thousand for core brand work (strategy, logo, design palette, etc.) and/or $60 to $100 thousand for a sales-enabled marketing campaign. We know most agencies don’t talk budget up front, but if this is your company’s first foray into working with an agency, we suspect it’s helpful to know this in advance. That said, if your budget is lower, we’re happy to meet with you to explore options within your budget.

4 – are on board with aligning marketing with their sales process.

Misalignment between marketing and sales is a common and costly issue that affects companies throughout every industry. Getting these core teams singing from the same song book can have a big impact on marketing return on investment (ROI), productivity of your sales team and, most importantly, your company's overall revenue. Achieving this alignment requires an investment of time, resources, process and technology. If this is not something you're able to commit to, your results from any marketing effort may fall short of what you're hoping to achieve. 

5 – are looking for a partnership.

When we take on a client, we’re all in. We put our hearts into developing memorable, effective creative and delivering measurable results.
